BABY LIFE

Baby Christmas Gift Ideas 2018 (Babies Under 1 Year)

Need baby Christmas gift ideas? We can help! Check out this list of products and find out what products our daughter actually used and enjoyed!

Knowing what to buy for a baby can be difficult. After all, it’s not like you can ask them what they want!

(Side note: can you imagine how much easier life would be if you could actually talk to your infant?)

Since you can’t ask babies what they want from Santa, here are a few suggestions of products that my daughter enjoyed in her first year.

We hope that these suggestions will help you decide what to buy this holiday season.

If you’re shopping for someone else’s kids, be sure to check out this post for some tips and tricks of what to buy and what to avoid!

Baby Christmas Gift Ideas 2018 (Babies Under 1 Year)

#1 – The First Years Stack Up Cups

Graci received these stacking cups for her first Christmas from my husband’s cousin and cousin-in-law who had recently had a baby of their own. Let me tell you, their baby-related recommendations have been spot-0n.

When Graci was little, she liked to play with one of these cups at a time, banging it on things and chewing on it. As she advanced developmentally, she began playing games with the cups like knocking them down when we stacked them up for her and trying to put one cup inside of another. Nowadays, at 15 months, she’s getting pretty good at both stacking the cups into a tower and nesting them inside one another.

Basically, this simple toy grew with her and provided lots of fun as she grew and developed. You can beat the fun for the price! It would make a great stocking stuffer for any little one.

#2 – Baby Banana Infant Training Toothbrush and Teether

If you’re like me, you likely find this little teether pretty funny.

Yes, it is a little banana with nubby things on top.

So what the heck is it?

Well, it is an easy-to-hold shape for your infant that feels good on sore, teething gums.

Not only does this give your child something to chew on, it also helps teach your little one about brushing their teeth – even if it just gets them used to the idea of something textured touching their gums.

#3 – Sassy Developmental Bumpy Ball

Graci got this adorable sensory ball for Christmas when she was 6 months old. Immediately, this was one of her favorite toys.

The bright colors and the high-contrast design really interested her, even at a young age.

In addition to different fabric textures, this ball also features two plastic domes that house balls that make noise like a rattle. The nubs around the ball are easy for your little one to grab, so they will be sure to shake it and explore.

#4 – Bright Starts Lots of Links

I could write an entire blog post about these links. They are amazing when you have an infant.

Not only will your child love chewing on these rings, they will also be a handy tool for momma!

By chaining a few links together, you can hang toys off of your stroller and provide a portable entertainment center for your baby. You’d be amazed at what moms have used these links for in a pinch.

#5 – Disney Baby Finding Nemo Sea Of Activities Jumper

Of all the toys that our daughter had in her first year, this was by far the thing that she used the most. Once she was big enough to use this jumper, it was one of the places that she was happiest.

With all of the interactive sea life, it kept her busy. And as she grew, she started to jump and get active.

As parents, it is so important to have a safe place where your child will be safe while you tend to the things that you have to do.

We always felt good about sitting Graci in this jumper while we watched TV, did laundry or cooked dinner. She was entertained and getting exercise. What could be better?

#6 – Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack & Baby’s First Blocks Bundle

When Graci was 6 months old, she received both of these items for Christmas. Though she definitely didn’t get the stacking or sorting thing at that age, she still loved playing with the blocks and rings from the sets.

This is another toy that is great because you can buy it for a baby and they can use it into their toddler years.

#7 – Fisher-Price Soothe & Glow Giraffe

We received this giraffe as a gift and Graci has hardly slept a night without it since. In fact, on a trip to Seattle, we forgot to bring it and decided to purchase a second one at our local Target so that she could have it to sleep on the trip.

When you press the stomach area of the giraffe, it starts to play mellow bedtime tunes, and the stomach glows softly. After a few minutes, the stomach’s light will turn off, but the music will continue for a total of 15 minutes. While this seemed odd at first, I think it actually helps soothe Graci to bed since it doesn’t all shut off at once.

Something that is great about this toy is that you can take the music/light box out of the stomach area through Velcro in the bottom and then wash the giraffe itself in the washing machine.

Please note that we have the pink and purple version of this toy.

#8 – Bright Starts Sit and See Floor Mirror

Graci hated tummy time. If we were able to distract or entertain her, we got a few more minutes of tummy time in.

This mirror was a lot of fun for Graci during tummy time because she got to look at the cute baby in the mirror! The mirror is lightweight so that you don’t have to worry about it if it collapses or falls on your little one. It also stores flat so that it is easy to take with you traveling or to store around the house between tummy time sessions.

#9 – Bright Starts License To Drool

Graci really enjoyed these teething keys when she was an infant. The different textures were great for helping her to work on those teeth that were trying to come through her gums.

Something that I liked about this teether was that it was easy to attach this toy to things like diaper bags and strollers by simply using a link (see above) or a toy strap. (That’s the beauty of any toys that have a loop like this!)

Our teething keys were a different color, but they were otherwise this same item.

#10 – Baby Activity Set Bright Starts Snuggle & Crinkle & Teether and First Bites Teether

This little plush elephant was one of Graci’s all-time favorite toys (and she still loves it now). The tummy of the elephant makes a crinkly noise and the feet are rubber teethers with different textures. She loved chewing on the toy and cuddling it. So it was really like a 2-in-1 toy!

We did not own the blue teether that is included in this Amazon deal, but I personally don’t think you can ever have too many teethers!

#11 – Earlyears Fill ‘N Fun Water Play Mat for Tummy Time

Remember how I said that Graci hated tummy time? Well, this was another tummy time activity that we purchased for Graci to encourage longer stints of tummy time.

This little mat gets filled with water and the outer ring gets filled with air. Then your baby does tummy time and is able to squish the fish around in the water.

Not only is it entertaining for babies, it is kinda fun to play with as an adult, too!

#12 – Bright Starts – TAGS’N ACTIVITIES GIFT SET

The plush elephant included in this gift set was something that I purchased for Graci while I was still pregnant. Not only is it adorable, it is also a fun sensory toy for babies.

Babies are OBSESSED with tags on everything – blankets, clothes, towels. Well, this toy has a ton of fabric “tags” all over for babies to play with!

We did not own the rest of the toys included in this gift set, but I’m confident that Graci would have loved them all.

#13 – Munchkin 2 Piece Snack Catcher

This item is more on the practical side of things, but it has been one of our most used products since we purchased them. As soon as your little one is eating little snacks (cereal, berries, etc.), you can use these to give them a little independence with less mess.

Just put the snacks inside the cup, put the lid on and show your little one how to stick their hand through the plastic to grab their snacks out! If they accidentally tip it over, the lid will limit how much ends up on the floor (or all over the backseat).

#14 – Summer Infant, Bibbity, Rinse & Roll Bib

These bibs were an absolute game changer in our house. The bibs are made of rubber, can be rinsed off in the sink (rather than having to be machine washed), and they roll up into their own little trough.

GAME CHANGER.

I absolutely love these bibs and cannot recommend them enough.

#15 – Disney Baby My First Library

My husband and I purchased this 12 pack of little board books for Graci at Christmas. Ever since, she’s played with them frequently.

Unlike other board books, these are really small and are perfect for diaper bags, purses, and little tiny baby hands.

Each book has a theme and features a ton of Disney and Disney-Pixar characters.

#16 – Bright Starts Teether

When your little one starts teething, these little things are amazing. You just pop them into the freezer, they harden and then you give them to your cranky baby.

CHECK OUT  Baby Registry Perks & Why You May Want More Than One

The cold, hard teether feels good on the swollen gums and gives them something to bite.

We purchased a similar pack of frozen teethers. This was the closest item we could find available.

#17 – Bright Starts Pretty In Pink Teether

Okay, so this teether works like the ones above – you put it in the freezer and then give it to your baby, etc.

The thing that I like about this one (besides how cute it is) is that it serves as a teether AND a toy.

See those little discs on top?

They made this a fun toy for Graci even when it was thawed.

#18 – Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy

This stuffed electronic plush has three stages and will be something that your little one wants to use as an infant and later as a toddler.

It is educational, cute and grows with your little one.

What more could someone ask for? Right?

#19 – Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Around The Town Learning Table

This learning table is great because it encourages your little one to stand up and is full of interactive activities that will keep your little one’s interest. Graci’s personal favorite is the phone in the center that comes out so that you can “talk” on it! She’s always wandering around her room babbling with the phone up to her ear!

Just like the dog above, there are different learning stages that you can select, which makes this great for the transition from baby to toddler.

#20 – VTech Sit-to-Stand Walker

This walker is super deluxe. It comes with a detachable phone (Graci likes to babble on this one, too), brakes on the two back wheels, and an array of activities on the front. In addition to being a walker, you can also remove the front portion to use as a standalone toy.

If your baby isn’t ready to walk or even stand, they can still use this toy in the sitting position (or play with the front removed). Then, as they grow, they can use it as a walker.

Can you tell that I love toys that will grow with your child?

We actually have a different color of this walker, so there are other colors available!

BONUS ITEM: 3-in-1 Around We Go Activity Center

Why is this a bonus item, you ask?

Well, it’s because we didn’t have this for Graci, but I wish that we had.

This activity center would have been so much fun for Graci. The baby sits in the seat and can move around the activities.

In fact, this is on my list to buy if we have another baby in the future. I thought that I would link it here in case anyone was as interested in it as I was!

If you have any other product recommendations for babies under 1, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
