Self-Care For Moms Who Need A Boost

Self-care for moms can seem like an unattainable goal. Many of us feel like there is simply no time to care for ourselves while also taking care of everyone else. (And if you are like me, coming up with self-care ideas when I do have time is difficult.)
As moms, it is so important that we find ways to take care of ourselves, too.
Whether you have a few minutes at home or are able to get away for a little while, there are ideas below to help you give yourself a little love. Self-care for moms does not have to be complicated or expenseive!

Read a book (Check out my favorites below!)
Take a long shower. We don’t get enough long showers as moms!
Try a bold, new makeup look. This is one of my favorite ways to feel like “me” again.
Have a glass of wine. It can be nice to simply have a glass of wine in the comfort of our home, especially once the kiddos have gone to bed.
Soak your feet. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I received a foot spa for Christmas. It was one of the best things ever. This is the one that I have and I absolutely love it.
Paint your nails at home. Pampering yourself can be as easy as painting your nails with that polish you’ve got sitting around!
Do a face mask. A face mask can be a simple way to pamper yourself in the comfort of your home.
Do a teeth whitening treatment.
Make time to do a hobby. Moms hardly ever get a chance to lose themselves in a hobby that they love. Self-care for moms can be as simple as taking time to do a hobby.
Listen to an audiobook. Whenever I have to drive somewhere, I listen to an audiobook through Audible. I highly recommend signing up for this service!
Organize your personal space that gets neglected. When I have a few moments, I like to clear out my nightstand or organize my makeup collection.
Binge watch Netflix.
Purge clutter in areas of your home that bring you stress.For me, there are multiple surfaces throughout our home that collect clutter. Spend a few moments clearing these areas and you’ll feel so much better.
Take a break from social media. Taking a break from social media can be super rewarding. You’ll have more time to get things done, and you’ll be cutting out the noise and negativity. If you want to go super crazy, delete the apps from your phone.
Make a cup of tea and put some fuzzy socks on. Sounds relaxing, am I right?
Go to bed early. Sleep is something moms don’t get enough of. Going to bed early can help you feel recharged.

Exfoliate your lips. You can grab a bunch of exfoliators on Amazon, or you can make your own with a quick search of Pinterest.
Pluck your eyebrows. Just make sure not to over pluck them.
Shave your legs. Nothing feels better than super smooth legs.
Light a candle and relax.
Paint your toenails. With summer right around the corner, you’ll appreciate having cute, painted toenails for days to come.
Make your favorite meal at home.
Curl up and take a nap! Our kids might fight naps, but we know better.
Use a hair treatment. Give your hair a little TLC that it doesn’t normally get during your 5 minute showers.
Give yourself a neck and shoulder massage using an at-home device. I’m in love with this one from Amazon:
Put on your favorite clothes. My favorite clothes always make me feel like the best version of myself.
Catch up on celebrity news or something else that you find a guilty pleasure. Personally, I love the Royal Family and everything to do with them!
Create a vision board. Make a board that illustrates what you want your life to look like.
Grab your favorite takeout or have it delivered.
Splurge on a house cleaner. Give yourself a break and get your house cleaned professionally. It will help you get a jumpstart on keeping it clean!
Color in a coloring book.
Rent a movie from Redbox. Then curl up at home.

Take a bath.

Write down things you’re grateful for. So simple, but such a great reminder.
Spend time watching your favorite YouTube channels. I’m personally way into YouTube.
Listen to a podcast.
Sign-up for a subscription box. This one is a long-term investment in self-care as you’ll get the boxes month after month (or whatever frequency you choose).
Do a paraffin wax treatment on your hands.
Shut your phone completely off. Like completely off.
Paint a picture.
Spend some time on Pinterest finding inspiration.
Listen to music that isn’t kid friendly. I love music with words that aren’t appropriate for little ears. You better believe that when I’m alone, I’m not listening to kid-
Brainstorm goals. Get out a pen and paper and start brainstorming all the things you’d like to change about your life.
Instead of going grocery shopping, use a grocery delivery service like Amazon Fresh or order your groceries online and pick them up.
Things To Do When You Need To Get Out Of the House
Grab a coffee! Sometimes a special drink from Starbucks can elevate your spirits!
Get a pedicure. Can we say relaxing?
Rock a new hairstyle. After I had Graci, it felt so good to chop my hair off and rock a new hairstyle. It made me like a new person!
Get a massage.
Go for a drive (without a yelling kid in the car). My toddler likes to yell a bunch in the car. When I go for a drive without her, it feels like a luxury!
Take a class (any kind!)
See a movie by yourself. This one may seem a little scary, but as moms, we rarely get to see that movie we’d love to see because we end up taking the kids to the movies instead, or we don’t go to movies at all because our littles are too
Go to the library and checkout books! And if you have a few moments, find a quiet corner to get some reading done.
Spend uninterrupted time in Target. Head to Target, grab a Starbucks and take your time checking out all of latest from Target.
Get a makeover.
Meet up with a friend you haven’t seen in a while. Have some laughs and catch up!
Indulge in a treat that you love. And don’t worry about having to share with your littles.
Buy yourself a new outfit. If you are anything like me, I usually want to buy new clothes for the other people in my family and I usually don’t think much about my clothes.
Take yourself out to dinner. Is there a place you’ve been hungry for but your family isn’t a fan? Go there!
Go for a trip with a significant other or friend.
Find a local museum. Or explore anything local that your city has to offer.
Buy a new pair of shoes. Treat yourself to a pair of shoes that make you feel good.
Get your eyebrows done. I love what a professional can do to my eyebrows!
Have a date night with your partner!
Check out the local farmer’s market. You can make a meal out of the fresh foods that you find.
Make a meal plan that will have you feeling good about what you’re eating. Having a meal plan will also just make life a little easier!
Get your car detailed. A lot of us spend hours a week in the car, so splurge and get your car professionally cleaned. Sometimes self-care for moms is as simple as getting the minivan cleaned out!
Purchase new underwear, bras, and/or socks. No one will know you’re rocking new undergarments, but you will!
Head to the mall to window shop or have a little retail therapy. I can’t remember the last time I walked around a mall alone! Can you?
Buy a new water bottle and get drinking that water!
Ideas To Get Your Body Moving
Get new workout clothes. Workout clothes always make me feel like I can take on the world, or at least my next workout.
Go for a hike. I absolutely love getting out in the trees. There’s nothing like the greenery to make everything about daily life seem far away.
Take a swim. The water can be super relaxing.
Work on a garden. If you enjoy gardening, this can be a great way to incorporate self-care into your life.
Hit the gym. It may not seem fun at first, but you’ll feel so accomplished when you’re done.
Go for a walk in the park. A walk alone can help you collect your thoughts. Self-care for moms can truly be as simple as a walk in the park! It doesn’t have to be complicated.
